Ali, what you are talking about is called vision therapy. Binocular vision
is when the brain suppresses the vision from one eye. Without the vision
from both eyes working together one looses depth preception. Symptoms
include such things as double vision, frequent loss of place when reading,
headaches or eyestrain, and inability to sustain a visual task for a
prolonged period of time. To start with only a developmental optometrist can
diagnose a problem like this, not a regular optometrist. Try a search on the
Collage of Developmental Optometrists website (http://www.covd.org) to
locate a certifed member and further information about testing and vision
therapy. Vision therapy has been around since the 19th century and really
started to grown in 1928, This isn't something new. The assessment is
usually covered by insurance if you have vision care coverage. Vision
therapy *can* be covered by insurance depending on you carrier and coverage.
A websearch will bring up tons of information on this subject. Good Luck!
