In Reply to: School insists on treating bright girl with ADHD as lazy instead of disabled posted by Jackie M. Botala
Like your story my daughter is 9 years old and it has been established that she suffers from ADHD.
The school she is presently attending tested her because I expressed my concern in regards to why
she was failing simple reading courses and her mathematics course. My daughter is well mannered
and has some control over her urges to shout out and sit still in school. But because of this she
also was considered LAZY, DOESN'T PAY ATTENTION, POOR STUDY HABITS. The school took notice of her
social activities, she has difficulty making friends and keeping them. And I feel for any parent who
is frustrated with teachers who insist the child is lazy. My daughter reversed letters and dropped
words from sentences she read outloud. I beleived there was a problem and they pushed her through.
